Gate to the Stellar Field

Epilogue

A train bound for the city just departed the station at the foot of Mt. Soen. Through the windows, Tomoyo, Sakura, and Syaoran were seen. Old Masaki, Mr. and Mrs. Daidouji, Touya, and Yukito were on the train, too. The chaufeur and the superintendent of the villa were seeing them off, saying, “Take care! You’ll be welcomed.”

On the train, Sakura heaved a sigh, then Tomoyo seated in front of her took her by the hand to make her feel easy.

“Don’t feel that sad. Rumi is fine, and there was nodody injured, right?” Tomoyo tried to cheer her up. Sakura still kept silent.

“She’s right,” Kero agreed, “Even the rightful Cardcaptor can do nothing against the forces from the outer space.” Encouraging her, he swallowed two pieces of cake and gulped a can of tea.

“Some guardian you are, how could you be so optimistic?” Syaoran rolled his eyes.

“And the magic power that saved us at the end, it was amazing! Who was responsible for that?” Kero continued.

Sakura suddenly caught at something and opened the window impulsively, letting a cript air in, when she exclaimed, “Rumi!” She saw Rumi standing at a crossing accompanied by Satoshi Nakagawa by the side. The little girl shouted, “Thank you, Sakura.”

“Is everything all right? Your mother didn’t yell at you?”

“No, everything is all right. I’ll miss you,” Rumi replied.

The last phrase was hardly heard because the train raised the power to accelerate, but Sakura and Syaoran felt happy to see the parent and daughter standing side by side, hand in hand.

“It’s good for them... but who in the world is this?” Tomoyo said.

“Hey, my cake!” Kero groaned in surprise.

In the seat Sakura was supposed to take, a lovely girl was seated munching Kero’s cake.

“Who are you?” Syaoran glared at her.

Contentedly, she swallowed the cake and gulped a can of tea just like Kero did a few minutes before. “Be quiet, Kerberus. If you aren’t, you’ll always be hungry when I take over the mastership of the Cards,” she pointed her forefinger to him. Setting the guardian beast quiet, she greeted Tomoyo in the opposite side, “It’s you, is it Tomoyo Daidouji? Thanks for being always nice to my mother.”

She turned to Syaoran, getting him into confusion.

“You’re Mr. Li. I’m pleased to meet you,” the girl said. At this time, Sakura was too confused to think of anything.

“Sorry I was jealous, Mom,” the girl talked to Sakura.

“Hey, what’s going on? What’s with that girl,” Touya who heard the fuss walked to the spot, when the girl greeted politely. “Hi, Uncle Touya.”

Yukito caught his best friend from collapsing, while she greeted him cheerfully, “Nice to meet you. Like I heard of, what a lood-looker he is!”

“You came from... the future, didn’t you?” He asked.

Smiling, the girl from the future let two Sakura Cards (with minor changes of the pattern) pop out of her pocket and rotate around her. “I gotta go. Mr. Li, say hello to Wei, right? Neo Return!” She vanished at the moment one of the Cards flashed. In a few seconds, Syaoran uttered from something he figured out.

“What’s the matter?” Tomoyo rolled her eyes.

“The other Card was the Twin Card. That means Wei’s true self was not around from the first place. By the way... She called me Mr. Li... That means, I can’t believe it!”

“She called me Uncle Touya...”

Tomoyo was watching Syaoran and Touya who was depressed from the minor psychological impact, without saying a word, while her camcorder at her feet was recording everything happening on the train heartlessly. Poor Syaoran and Touya, they were to suffer the distress for a long time. In contrat to the gang confused by the girl from the future, old Amamiya was checking some documents in a serious look.

“There’s something wrong, Granddad?” Tomoyo’s father asked.

“Huge investment arises for Satoshi’s research. The government has a great interest in it,” the old man replied.

“It’s not just a personal study any more, huh? Then... the incident of these days has to be investigated and explained,” the father mumbles.

“Yes, even if it takes such a long time,” Masaki agreed.

In an early morning, at Nozaki’s observatory on top of Mt. Soen, the slit of the dome was opened, while Masatsugu Nozaki was watching the telescope monitor enthusiastically despite the chilly wind blew in through the slit. The monitor shows the Krommelt Commet with a beautiful tail over the stellar field. He said aloud, “So long, my precious commet. I hope that when you come back, the falks with more advanced technologies will be welcoming your return.”

In the dim light of dawn, Rumi Nakagawa was looking at the commet in the middle of the snow field, holding the two rabbits in her arms.
