Sakura is dreaming, where she stands on the rooftop of the building facing to a radio tower. She can see a woman stading far across on another building.
Sakura | Who are you? What do you want from me? |
Sakura wakes up. | |
Sakura |
Oh! [Sits up] That strange dream again. Hmm? |
Sakura recalls the figure of the woman see saw in the dream, but she has no idea who it was.
Sakura | Hmmm. Wow! I woke up before the alarm went off! |
She changed into her school uniform.
Sakura | Kero, are you up yet? Kero? |
Kero | [Sleeping] Uhh... chocolate pudding... yeah... |
Sakura |
Heh heh heh. I think I'll let Kero sleep in this morning. |
Sakura rollerblades on the way to school, much earlier than usual. She is happy to see grean leveas on the trees on the street.
Sakura | What a beautiful morning! |
She suddenly flashbacks the dream.
Sakura |
What is that my dream was trying to tell me?
I wish I knew what it meant. Wha- |
Sakura comes back to herself, hearing bell tolls at the shrine.
Sakura |
The shrine. Madison told me yesterday that Ms. Mackenzie's Dad owns the shrine. I really like her a lot. For some reason, Li doesn't trust her. |
Layla | Trust who? |
Sakura didn't know, but Layla Mackenzie is behind her raking the gateway.
Sakura | Uh, whoa! |
Layla | I'm so sorry. Did I statle you, Sakura? |
Sakura | No, I... uh... ummm, good morning. |
Layla | Good morning. You're up very early this morning. |
Sakura | Yeah, I thought I would get an early start for the day. |
Layla | Yeah, me too. My father has an illness lately. So I'm helping him by doing some work around the shrine for a few days. |
Sakura | Would you like some help? |
Layla | Are you sure, Sakura? |
Sakura | It won't be any problem. |
Julian | I can help, too. |
At this time, Julian comes by by bike.
Sakura | What? Julian! |
The three of those people rake the garden of the shrine. Julian is looking for the spot to dump the leaves he raked.
Julian | Would you like this to go over here? |
Layla | Yes, thank you. |
Sakura |
I'm glad I got up early this morning. Hmmm? |
Sakura flashbacks the scnene of last night just after she captured the Maze Card.
Li | I would be careful if I were you. She's more than just some teacher. |
Sakura | I wonder what Li meant by that. |
Layla gives a bag of chestnut to each for sign of appreciation.
Layla | Thank you for helping me this morning. Here's some chestnuts from the shrine's garden for two of you. |
Sakura | Thanks. |
Julian | Yeah. Are you sure we can have these? |
Layla | Of course. |
Julian | We better get going or we're going to be late for sure, Sakura. |
Sakura | Right. |
Julian | I'll walk with you there, okay? |
Sakura | Sure, okay! |
Julian | I'll just go get my bike. |
Julian runs to take his bike.
Layla | Sakura. |
Sakura | Hmm, yes? |
Layla |
Ummm... [Shakes head] Uh, nothing. Never mind. There's no need to tell it to her now. There's still time. |
Sakura walks in her school.
Sakura | Good morning! |
Kids | Good morning! |
Sakura | Hey, Madison, how are you? |
Madison | I'm good. Best thing you're fast. |
Sakura | He heh heh. |
Madison | You are not running on time today. You are actually early. What happened this morning? Did Kero figure out the way to wake you up? |
Sakura |
No, I just wake up early this morning. [Shows chestnuts] Now, check this out. |
Madison | What is that? |
Sakura | Well, I helped out Ms. Mackenzie this morning. |
Li | What do you mean you helped out Ms. Mackenzie this morning?! |
Sakura | But, Li... |
Meilin | Li, where did you go? [Enters classroom] |
Li | Uh-hmmm? |
Meilin |
Gee, I went to get may bag and I turned around and
you're gone already! Oh, did you bring them for me? |
Sakura | Would you like a chestnut, Meilin? |
Meilin | I'll show you guys how to peel one. |
Taking chestnuts out of the bag, Meilin shows them how to peel them.
Meilin | Watch closely. First, you do this, then you'll easily pop it out like this, see? |
Sakura | That's amazing! |
Madison | Now I wish I brought my video camera today! |
Meanwhile, Ms. Mackenzie walks toward the classroom; Li senses her presence.
Li | Huh? |
Li has a fit to see her; but she smiles.
Sakura and Aiden are talking at the table back home, when she is eating cake.
Aiden | The school notice says here you have a new math teacher. |
Sakura | Mmm-hmm. Our old teacher will be gone for a month. |
Aiden | And your new math teacher is... oh! It says here that it's Ms. Layla Mackenzie. |
Sakura | Huh? I din't know thay you met Ms. Mackenzie before, Dad? |
Aiden | Her dad owns the shrine, doesn't he? |
Sakura | Mmm-hmm. |
Aiden | So, I guess she's come back then. |
Sakura | You mean you know her, Dad? |
Aiden | Well, actually, it's Tori that knows her. She was his math teacher until she went to teach in England. |
Sakura | That's weird. When they met the other night, they acted as if they didn't know each other. |
Aiden | That is his trick. |
Meanwhile, Layla is looking at the full moon, with a smile in front of the big cherry tree in the shrine. Soon, the wind begins to blow; she smiles mysteriously. Something magical appears swirling above the cherry tree until hides inside the tree.
Guided by Kero, Sakura is rollerblading outside.
Sakura | Are you sure you sensed the Clow Card? |
Kero | Definitely, Sakura. This one woke me up, so it just made its presence known. |
They arrive at the shrine.
Sakura | There's the shrine. |
Kero | Yeah, this is where it's coming from. |
Sakura | You know what? This is really strange. This is where we caught the Maze Card with Ms. Mackenzie's help. |
Kero | You mean that mysterious teacher? |
Sakura | Mmm-hmm. Which card could it be? |
At that time, Li come up with his lasin board pinpointing the card.
Li | Whichever it is, the card has immense of powers. I'm sure of it. |
Sakura | Hey, Li. |
Kero | What are you doing here, kid? As you can see, we are not under control. |
Sakura | Mmmm... [Looking for something] |
Li | What is it? |
Sakura | So where's Meilin? |
Li | She's at home. She hasn't finshed her book report, yet. |
Kero | Ya hah, the little girl can't get her book report done. |
Sakura | Kero, that's not just nice! You know that Meilin is new to our school. So it'll take her a while to catch up to us. |
Kero | Awww... |
Li | Hey, where's Madison? She's always around with a videocamera to capture. |
Sakura | It's too late now, so I can't call her. |
Kero | All right, let's go. We've got a Clow Card to capture! |
Sakura, Kero, and Li are in front fo the cherry tree, in tracking the presence.
Kero | I know it's got to be around here somewhere. But where can it be? |
Li | Well, it's definitely close by. [Reading lasin board] |
Sakura | We've been looking for all over for an hour now, or nothing. |
Kero | And I was feeling it so strong, too. Now I'm barely to pick out anything. Well, I'm thirsty. Isn't there vending machine around here somewhere? |
Sakura | I want a drink, too. |
Sakura throws her purse to Kero.
Kero | Oh! |
Kero flies with the purse to look for a vending machine.
Sakura | With one for Li, too, okay? |
Kero | Okay, okay, one for the kid, too. |
Li | Don't call me kid! |
Sakura | Just get going and hurry back! |
Sakura and Li are up on the branches of the tree, waiting for Kero.
Sakura | Do you think it could have left the park? |
Li | No, I don't think so. Maybe it somehow knew when we were here; it hides from us. |
Sakura | When we do capture this card, it will be the second one we've found here. |
Li | You are right. We captured the Maze Card here before. |
Sakura | And if it weren't for the help of Ms. Mackenzie's bell she had with her. |
Li | You're right. She was a big help with the Maze Card. But I still don't trust her. Haven't you been able to sense anything from her yet? |
Sakura | Mmm-hmm. |
Li | Like I said before, you and I had better stay on guard. |
Sakura | From Ms. Mackenzie, I don't sense any thing. |
Li | Don't trust! |
Sakura | I don't know why you don't trust her, Li. I like her, and for some reason, I think she is here trying to help us. |
Li | Mmmmm! [Shakes head] |
Li jumps off the tree and runs away.
Li | I give up! |
Sakura | Hey, Li! Where do you think you're going? |
When Sakura jumps off the tree and stands on her feet, the migic coming out of the cherry tree catches her on the leg. Trapped Sakura is being pulled into the cherry tree.
Sakura | Ahhhh! |
Kero floats back with three cans of drink.
Kero |
I come with the drinks. You're missing anything? Whoa! Sakura! |
Li takes out his sword, and rushes to the tree, but it's too late.
Li | Where did she go? |
Kero | Sakura. |
Li | She disappeared into the tree. |
Kero | That's it! It's the Return Card! |
Sakura wakes up and finds she is lying in front of the cherry tree where no ones is around.
Sakura | This is really bizarre. How in the world did I get here? I don't remember I go to the shrine with Kero, meeting Li. And Kero went for drinks, and Li and I were talking, and then next thing I don't remember. Oh, yeah, I was pulled into the tree! |
Sakura stands up and gropes around the tree for the hole that swallowed her.
Sakura | The hole, it just disappeared. Huh? What? |
Sakura steps back to look up at the cherry tree.
Sakura | It's full of cherry blossoms. |
Meanwhile, someone is walking far behind her.
Sakura |
Hey, Li. That isn't Li. I got to hide somewhere. Oh! |
Sakura takes out the key, which she transforms into the staff to use the Jump Card.
Sakura | Jump! |
Sakura jumps up on a branch.
Sakura |
It's Tori. What is he doing here? If he finds me I'm in so much trouble. Wait a sec. Why is he wearing his junior hish school uniform? |
Tori pats on the trunc of the tree.
Tori | There's a really strange aura coming out from this tree. |
Sakura | Uh-oh. |
Layla |
Hello. [Stands behind him] You are a student from my math class, aren't you. |
Sakura | Ms. Mackenzie. |
Tori | That's right, Ms. Mackenzie. I'm Tori. |
Layla | So you sense the strange aura from the tree as well? You have the ability to see things, don't you. It must be difficult for you to be able to see things others can't. |
Tori | I've gotten used to it. |
Layla | You have a little sister, don't you. |
Tori | Yeah, she just turned six, and her name is Sakura. |
Sakura | Oh, what's going on here? I must have been sent back into the past? |
Layla | I have to be leaving now. But I'll see you tomorrow, at school. |
Tori | Okay. |
Back in the shrine in the present time, Kero is explaining Li about the Return Card.
Kero | The Return Card takes her back to the past. But it takes a great deals of powers so it's hardly ever used. |
Li | Well, then, how come it's coming out now? |
Kero | Well, this tree is the sacred tree of the shrine, right? So it holds a lot of powers. The Card must be using that power, but even so the Return Card can only send one person back to the past. So we didn't tell just one person here at the base of the tree. And there's the full moon tonight. |
Back in the past, Tori runs to the tree where Layla is raking.
Tori | Hello, Ms. Mackenzie. |
Layla | Hello, Tori. |
Tori | How did you know about my sister, Sakura? |
Layla | I could sense it just like you, Tori. I possess special powers myself. |
Tori | Relly? What kind of powers? |
Layla | Well, same as yours. It's complicated I can't afford to explain it to you now and I can't tell you that I'm connected by someone special. |
Tori | Who? |
Sakura | Are they talking about me? |
Layla | I can't tell you now. But you'll really find out some day. |
Tori | Please, Ms. Mackenzie. Tell me now. |
Layla | I really can't. It's not time yet. |
Sakura | So Tori and Ms. Mackenzie did know each other. |
In the present time, Li and Kero are talking about what to do.
Li | What's going to happen to Sakura? |
Kero | Unfortunately, Sakura will be stuck in the past until the past catches up with the present. |
Li | Isn't there something we can do? |
Kero | But it's not impossible. |
In the past, there's a summer festival in the shrine. Tori and Layla walk to the cherry tree.
Tori | So what did you want to tell me? |
Layla | I've been offered a wonderful teaching position in England. |
Tori | Huh? |
Layla | And unfortunately, we'll be leaving the next week. |
Sakura | They're too far. I can't quite here them. |
Layla | Promise me you won't tell Sakura about our talks or don't let her know that we know each other. Right then? |
Layla walks a few steps away from the tree to see the night sky.
Layla | A beautiful full moon. |
Tori doesn't say a word.
Layla | When a disaster befalls the world. |
Sakura | What? |
Layla turns around and look at Sakura up on the branch.
Sakura | You can see me? |
Layla | It is your destiny. |
Sakura is illuminated by blinding bright light.
Sakura | Ahhhh! |
Kero | Sakura! Sakura! |
Suddenly, she is back in the present time.
Sakura | Hi, Kero. |
Kero | So I'm glad you're made back okay. |
Sakura | But how did I? |
Kero | Well, I guess it wasn't a good thing that kid came out tonight. |
Sakura | What? |
The magic comes out swirling out from the tree.
Kero | Sakura, that's the true form of the card! |
Sakura | Return to the power confined, Clow Card! |
Responging to the swing of the staff, the power concentrates at the tip of the staff and turns into a card, before flying to Li who is standing exhausted behined the tree.
Li | That's good, you made it back. [Collapes] |
Sakura | Li, no! |
Li sitting with his back leaning against the tree is panting from exhaustion.
Kero | The Return Card took you back to the past. The only way to seal the Return Card is to use the Time Card to stop the passage of time, but it takes a lot of magical enegy to bring out to the Time Card. |
Sakura | Thanks for helping with everything. |
Kero | Yue. [Looks at the moon] |
Layla is watching them from behind the shrine house, smiling. |
