In the morning, an alarm clock goes off in Avalons' residence. Aiden rushes out his room heading for the kitchen.
Aiden | Sorry, guys. I must have set the alarm wrong and I've just got... Huh? |
Tori and Sakura are preparing for breakfast instead of their father.
Tori | Good morning. |
Sakura | Good morinig, Dad. |
Aiden | Good morning, Tori, Sakura. Uh, I thought I was supposed to be in my turn to cook today. But... |
Tori | You better eat breakfast. This is for you, Dad. |
Tori brings two sunny-side up eggs and put them on the plate. Sakura seats her father.
Sakura | It's all ready, Dad. Sit. |
Aiden | Well, thank you. |
Sakura | You see, you've been working so hard on your lecture, so we decided to help around the house a little bit more. |
Tori | Don't worry. We're here for you, Dad. |
Aiden looks at both of his children who are smiling.
Aiden | You kids are nice. |
When Aiden is leaving for work, Sakura hands him the lunch box.
Sakura | Here's your lunch. |
Aiden | A lunch? Did you... |
Sakura | Don't worry. I think you'll like this one. |
Aiden | Thanks, Sakura. Only one more week, I promise. |
Sakura | Heh heh heh, no problem. |
Tori walks to the front door.
Tori | Shouldn't you be gone by now? |
Aiden | Oh, no. Okay, see you! |
Aiden jumps on his feet and goes out.
Sakura |
See you later, Dad. I packed his lunch and finished cleaning up. Heh heh heh, not bad, huh? Hey, where are you going? |
Tori | I got practice, meeting Julian on the way there. |
Sakura | Wait for me. I'll go with you. |
After school, Sakura and Madison at a book store on their way home.
Clerk | That will be seven fifty, please. |
Sakura talks to Madison that she and Tori help out Aiden.
Madison | So you two are doing all the chores? |
Sakura | That's right. Dad's presenting a real important research paper at a seminar next Monday. So Tori and I decided to give him a break. It's no big deal, really. It's just for a week. He's been working so hard on it lately. |
Madison | Have you ever done that much before? |
Sakura | He did it in a while, though. And this one's a lot more important. |
Madison | I can't believe that you and Tori are actually getting along! |
Sakura |
Yeah, I guess sometimes he is okay. Oh yeah! Here. [Hands two books to Madison] |
Madison | I'll take it. |
Adding the two books, Madison lifts a dozen of books; Sakura sweatdrops.
Madison | These should be about enough for basing on for battle costumes. |
Sakura | Mmmm... |
Madison | So I thought I'll try some fresh concept from design books. I can't wait to get it started. |
Sakura | Me, neither... |
When Madison has paid at the register, the clerk puts the books on a bag and hands them to Madison.
Clerk | Thank you very much, Miss. |
Just the moment Sakura and Maison are leaving, Julian comes up to the register.
Julian | Excuse me, let me pick up a book. |
Clerk | Sure. So, who's it for? |
Julian | Avalon, Aiden Avalon. |
Sakura | Huh? Julian! |
Julian | Hmmm? Hey! |
Sakura and Madison walks with Julian who is walking his bike.
Sakura | So my brother asked you to pick up a book for him? |
Julian | Yep, that's right. His practice is a little late today, and your Dad wants it for work, something important. |
Sakura | Oh, so my Dad ordered today. He must need it for the research he's doing. Thanks a lot! |
Julian | No problem. Tori told me how busy you've been helping him out. I think it's very nice of you, Sakura. |
Sakura | Oh, well, it's nothing. |
When they come to a corner, Julian stops walking and gives Madison and Sakura the books he has been carrying in the bike basket.
Julian | Uh, here. |
Sakura | Thanks. |
Julian | Bye. |
On that night, Aiden is working in his study. Sakura, walking by the door, sees her father working though the doorway open a few inches.
Sakura | I wonder if Dad will be up really again tonight. |
Tori | Sakura. [Whispers] |
Sakura | Huh? Hmmm. [Closes the door] |
Tori motions Sakura to come to the kitchen.
Sakura | What's up? |
Tori | So you did all of it yet? |
Sakura | Yep, I just finished it. |
Tori | Then you just do one more thing. |
Sakura | What? |
Tori | How about taking Dad snack in for him? |
Tori gives Sakura the plate with coffee and sandwiches.
Sakura | Sure. |
Tori | Dad has got a lot of work to do, so don't be hang arond in there too long. Then it's time for you to go to bed, sqirt. |
Sakura | Okay. |
Knocking the door, Sakura enters Aiden's study.
Sakura | I'll leave snack right here. |
Aiden | Maybe I'll have it now. It's about the time I took a little break. |
Aiden walks to Sakura and take one of the sandwiches to eat.
Aiden | Hmmm, very good. |
Sakura | So how's the work going? |
Aiden | Well, I have it though, but I still have something to do together. Don't worry. I have to stay over at university a couple of nights, and this will be all over soon. Thank you. You and Tori can bear the grumpier Dad a few more days. |
Sakura | Umm-hmmm. [Shakes head] You're not grumpier, Dad. We are proud of you. |
Aiden | Thanks, Sakura. |
Sakura | So who goes to the seminar, anyway? Will they be all kinds of important poeple who's been watching you? |
Aiden | Good question. There might be some important people there. And some are just interested in ancient history. |
Sakura | Oh. |
Aiden | The world is a very big place with a long history. But still we just know a little about our past. There were many ancient civilizations they didn't record their culture, or did so but we haven't discovered. And so that's why I'm doing this work. Anthropology is the study of ancient cultures and civilizations. I'm learning anything I can about it so whenever I learn something new I'll tell it to others. Passing anology onto future generations is how we make our history. |
Sakura | Hmmm. [Nods] |
Aiden | Thanks a lot for the snack. I've got my second wind. Now isn't it your bed time? |
Sakura | Umm-hmmm, good night, Dad. |
Aiden | Good night, Sakura. |
In Sakura's bed room, Sakura is talking to Kero about her plan.
Kero | You are going to your dad's university? |
Sakura | Yeah, would you like to come with me? |
Kero | I'm already super smart. I don't want to study. |
Sakura | I'm going to take him something to eat. If you want to stick in over, Maybe Madison'll want to come. |
Kero | Did you say food? Will there be any cookies or what, huh? |
Sakura | Kero, is food all you think about? |
Kero | All right! I'll bring cookies to your dad! You are really lucky, you know. |
Sakura | Hmmm? |
Kero | University is hard to get into; usually you'll have to pass the entrance exams. But all you need to get into is cookies! |
Sakura and Madison are walking in Aiden's university.
Sakura | Wow, university is so huge. |
Madison | Which building is your dad in? |
Sakura | Uh, the anthroplody department. |
Madison | I think we better ask for directions. |
Sakura and Madison asks some students they find on the way for directions.
Sakura | Thanks a lot for coming here with me, Madison. |
Madison | Sure. I've always wanted to see the university. By the way, I've got an idea for costunmes after looks at those books. |
Assistant A | So are you two lost? |
Sakura and Madison are addressed by a woman (Assistant A) and two men (Assistants B and C).
Sakura | Good time, we're going to the anthropology department? |
Assistant A | Anthropology? |
Sakura | Yes. |
Assistant A | So who would you want to see there? |
Sakura | Professor Avalon. |
Assistant B | You're a little young for his class. |
Sakura | So are you in my father's class? |
Assistant A | Oh, you mean you're Professor Avalon's daughter? |
Sakura | Yeah, I'm Sakura Avalon. |
Assistant A |
Oh, wow. Hey, you want to see your dad's classes? |
Sakura | Oh, can we, please? |
The three young people guide Sakura and Madison to outside of one building.
Assistant A | Come on, this way. |
They can see Aiden's class through the window.
Sakura&Madison | Wow. |
Aiden | Thus, looking at this archeological point of view, irrigation was very significant indeed. It spread agriculture which was originated in Mesopotamia to Europe soon after early Europeans leant to cultivate wheets, olive, beans, and other foods; and Islamics had a special type of... |
Madison | Your dad is cool, Sakura. |
Sakura | Yeah. |
Assistant A | Professor Avalon's lectures are really popular. |
Assistant C | He is a great speaker. |
Boy A | Oh, yeah, that's for sure. I thought that history is totally boring until I got his class. |
Sakura | Heh heh. [Laughs nervously] |
Assistant A | Three of us are Professor Avalon's assistants. |
Assistant B | We help your dad complete every part in his research. |
Sakura | You do research? Wow, that must be so cool. |
Assistant A |
Oh, yeah, most of the time. [Checks time] Hmm, looks like the class is almost over. Well, follow us. |
When the assistants and two elementary school girls walk off, there's mysterious glow outside the lecture room.
Aiden is working with a laptop in his private office. There's a knock on the door.
Aiden | Come on in. |
Assistant A | Professor Avalon, your daughter is here to see you. |
Aiden | Hmmm? Sakura? [Stands up] |
Sakura | Heh heh. How's going, Dad? |
Madison | Hello, there. |
Aiden | What's all this? [Seeing the basket Sakura holds] |
Sakura | We brought you some snacks. |
Aiden | That's very sweet, Sakura. And you, too, Madison. |
Sakura | Sure. |
Kero | [Pokes out his head] We are out of cookies. |
Sakura | Ahhh! [Closes basket with upset] |
Assistant A | Professor. We'll be just over in the research room. |
Three assistants closes the door before going back to the research room, leaving Sakura and Madison in the office.
Sakura | Research room? |
Aiden | If they stay with me over my books in here, there's no space for them to work. So they're in the research room. |
Sakura | Oh. |
Aiden | They are working very hard to help me out on my paper. |
Sakura | University's hard. |
Aiden | Somtimes, but thanks to them, I'll end this in time. And you guys will help me out, too. |
Sakura | Uhh-hmmm, we didn't do anything, really. I just worried that you were working so hard you might need as much help with everything as that. |
Madison | Sakura. |
Aiden is sleeping. | |
Sakura | Hey, Dad? He is sleeping. |
Madison | Wow, he must be really tired. |
Sakura | Yeah. |
Aiden wakes up. | |
Aiden | Uh, oh, sorry, girls. I haven't had much sleep lately. |
Sakura and Madison walk out of the building in the university.
Sakura | My dad looks so exhausted. I'll sure help out he doesn't wear off somehow. Sounds like Kero's been sleeping, too. |
Kero | [Pokes head] What do you mean?! I was not sleeping. As if I had something better to do. |
Sakura | Oh, year? Then what are the baket marks printed on your cheek? |
Kero | Uh? Ohh! |
Kero hides inside the basket sheepishly.
Sakrua&Madison | Heh heh heh heh. |
Sakura | Isn't there something else we can do to help my dad? |
Madison | And his assistants. Why don't we go to the cafe and bring eveyone back some coffee. That will wake them up. |
Sakura | Hey, good idea. |
Sakura and Madison buy coffee at the cafe and brins the drink back to Aiden's office. Sakura knocks on the door before opening it.
Sakura | It doesn't look like he's here. |
Madison | He must have left. |
Sakura knocks on the door to the research room.
Assistant A | Yes? |
Sakura and Madison walk in.
Assistant A | Oh, hi, Sakura. |
Sakura | Do you know where my dad might be? |
Assistant A | He was called out by a professor. But I think he'll be back in a little while. |
Sakura | Oh, well, Madison and I brought you all some coffee. Here. |
Girls | Thank you. |
At this time, a little spirit flies out of the bookshelf sprinkles some glowing powders.
At this moment, two male assistants fall a sleep.
Assistant A | They are asleep. |
Madison | Good thing we brought coffee. |
Assistant A | I don't understand it. They just fell a slee- |
The female assistant assistant falls a sleep at the moment.
Sakura | Kero, is this the,.. |
Kero | [Jumps in] Clow Card! And it's in this room. |
Sakura sees the spirit flying into the bookself.
Sakura | [Gasps] There it is! |
Kero | Hey, it's the Sleep Card! If it sprinkled you with its dust you would fall asleep. |
Sakura | Is it why Dad was sleeping back there? |
Kero | Definitely. Sleep Card can make anyone fall asleep anytime. |
Sakura | Oh, no. I've got to seal the card, or Dad will never finish his paper. |
Sakura takes out the key of the seal, when the Sleep Card is watching from the bookshelf.
Sakura | O key of Clow, power of magic, power of light, surrender the wand, the force ignite. Release! |
The key turns into the staff, which Sakura grabs up in front of her before twirling some round above her head and holds it in the ready position.
Madison | Oh. |
Kero | What's wrong? |
Madison | I forgot to bring a new costume. |
Kero | ... [Sweatdrops] |
But at the time, the Sleep Card comes fly to Kero and Madison to attack.
Kero | Dahhhh! [Dodges] |
Madison falls asleep. | |
Sakura | Madison! |
When the Sleep Card flies to Sakura, she uses the Jump Card to dodge.
Sakura |
Jump! [Jumps on floor and then on wall] Oh, no, you don't! It's not my bed time, yet! |
Kero | It's getting away! |
The Sleep Card flies out in the corrider.
Sakura and Kero chase the escaping card.
The escaping card flies into a room, but flies outside in a short while. Kero and Sakura falls down in the floor in reaction of surprise.
Kero | Hmmm? They are already asleep! |
Sakura | Come on! |
Sakura and Kero restart tracking the card.
Sakura | Which way did she go? |
Kero | That way. |
Getting into Aiden's office, the room is full of sleeping powers in the air. Kero falls asleep.
Sakura | Windy, release and dispel! |
Although the Windy Card tries to catch it, the Sleep Card is too fast to catch.
Sakura | I command you to return to your power confined. |
Just the moment the Windy ties the Sleep Card up, Sakura jumps and swing the sealing wand in the air.
Sakura | Sleep! |
Sakura steps on the top of the pile of papers and books, where she catches the sealed card. When she smiles in contentedly, the pile collapse and Sakura falls.
Sakura | Whoa! |
Sakura stands up in the middle of scattered books, she finds she broke Aiden's laptop comupter by accident.
Sakura | Ugh, ooooh. |
Kero wakes up and yawns.
Kero | What a mess. |
Sakura stands without a word.
Kero | Sakura, did you seal the card? |
Sakura didn't say anything but she has the card in her right hand.
Kero | Hey, you captured it! What's wrong? |
Sakura | All of Dad's work's been ruined. |
Kero | Uh? Oh... [See the laptop] |
Sakura | Kero, which card will return things where they were? |
Kero | Sakura... |
Sakura | Poor Dad. |
Kero | I wish that there was the card to fix everything, Sakura. There are also things even magic can't do. |
To hear Kero's answer, Sakura cries. Kero hids behind the laptop of book to hear someone stepping near. Aiden, his assistants, and Madison comes to the office.
Aiden | Sakura? |
Aiden walks behind Sakura who is crying.
Aiden | What's wrong? |
Sakura | You were so tired so I brought you some... coffee to keep you going. [Cries] But now I ruined all your work. Oh, Dad, I'm so sorry. I never should have come. |
Aiden gently place his hand on her sholder.
Aiden | Sakura, none of this is your fault. I'm the one who should be sorry. I gave a hard time to my favorite girl. That's all. Go home and have really nice dinner. |
Later on that night, back in Sakura's room, Sakura can't fall asleep.
Sakura | Oohh. |
Kero | Sakura, are you still feeling guilty? Uh, your dad forgave you, didn't he? |
Sakura | Yeah, but... |
Sakura remembers what her father said.
Aiden | I want to learn everything I can about so whenever I learn something new, I'll tell it others. |
Sakura | My poor Dad. |
Next morning, Sakura walks in the ketchen still feeling down. Tori is baking a pancake.
Sakura | Morning. |
Tori | You're sure up really fast, Sunday. |
Sakura | Where's Dad, Tori? |
Tori | He's cleaning his office, so he'll be able to work in his office all day. |
Sakura | Whooh... |
When Sakura sits at the table Tori places the plate with pancakes.
Sakura | Is this for me? |
Tori | You'll never cheer up if you don't eat. |
Sakura | Ooohh. |
Sakura and Tori hears crashing sound up from Aiden's study.
Aiden is wincing in pain, sitting on the floor. Sakura and Tori come to the room with worry.
Aiden | I guess I haven't cleaned this room for a while. What a awful mess. |
Sakura walks in and takes the books scattered on the floor.
Aiden | Oh, that's okay, Sakura. Just leave them there. |
Sakura | Oh, Dad. This is all my fault. |
Aiden | Don't say that. |
Sakura | I really want to help you some help. Please, just tell me what to do and I'll do it. |
Aiden smiles and sits in front of Sakrua.
Aiden | Sakura, I've been thinking what happened last night. You know my reasearch was pertty much done already. |
Sakura | But I wrecked all of it, Dad. |
Aiden | The materials are all in here, in my head. If I work really hard today, I'll probably finish it all in time. But I will need a capable assistant. |
Sakura | I'll help you all, Dad. |
Aiden | Okay, you are my official assistant for the day. |
Sakura | Yeah! [Hugs Aiden] |
Aiden | We will work hard together. |
Sakura | Hey, Dad, I'll be the best assistant. |
