Sakura | Yay! Woo here! |
Madison | Did you remember to bring your ticket? |
Sakura |
Yep. [Takes out ticket] Reedington High Culture Festival. Oh? |
Sakura finds out Madison videotaping her.
Sakura | What are you doing?! |
Madison | I brought my videocamera in case a Clow Card shows up today. You never know where we'll find one. |
Tori's class are busy with the preparation for their stage play.
Leader | Let's get it moving. Our show's about to begin. |
Tori is sewing a shabby dress with patches. A boy bring him a pair of shoes.
Boy | Hey, Avalon, are you gonna need these? |
Tori | Nah, that's OK. I got my own. |
Three girls comes to Tori to talk to him.
Girl A | Are you nervous about the play today? |
Tori | No. |
Girl A | This is a difficult part for you, Tori. |
Girl B | Too bad you lost a bet. |
Girl C | Heh heh heh. |
Vicky is watching him from behind the partition.
Vicky | Poor Tori... |
Sakura and Madison are walking up the stairs with crèpes in their hands.
Sakura |
Too bad Kero couldn't come. Oh, no! [Rushes up a flight] I promised Kero I would bring him a treat home! |
Sakura and Madison come a flight up, and walk in the hall.
Sakura | Huh? |
Julian dressed in a kimono guides girls into the classroom.
Julian | Uh, Hi! |
Sakura | Hi, Julian. Hey, you're wearing a kimono! |
Julian |
Our class is in charge of running a Japanese food booth so
we all have to wear those kimonos today. Go on in. |
Sakura and Madioson come into the classroom. There are Japanese style benches that looks like a knee-high platform covered with a red cloth. People are enjoying Japanese snacks.
Girls | Welcome! |
Sakura | Whoa... |
Julian | What would you like? There's lemon soda and desserts. |
Madison | I'll have one of each, please. |
Sakura | I'll have lemon soda, please. |
Julian | OK, I'll be right back. |
Julian walks in behind the counter.
Julian comes back to the bench where Sakura and Madion are seated.
Julian | Here you go. |
Sakura and Madison drink their lemon soda.
Madison | It's good. |
Sakura | Huh? |
Madison | What's the matter? |
Sakura | I just got this weird feeling. |
Sakura looks in one direction, where Li is.
Julian | Uh, hey, Li. |
Li jumps on his feet, somersets forward and lands just before Sakura.
Li | Ha. |
Julian | Li, are you thirsty? [Bring lemonade] |
Li | [Blushes but soon snatches it] Thanks! |
Julian | I think I'll take my break now. Want me to show you guys around? |
Skura&Li | That would be great! |
Sakura and Li glare at each other.
Tori and two boys are carrying a big prop trunk up the stairs.
Boy A | This trunk's heavy! |
Tori | Yep. |
Boy B | We need to get some help with this trunk. |
Boy A | Definitely. |
Tori | All right. All right. |
Girl B | I hope he doesn't ask for help. |
Girl A |
They'd better hurry up and get the trunk over to the stage
right away. So you memorized all of your lines? |
Vicky | Uhh, I think... most of them. |
Girl A | What do you mean “most of them”? You know the show gonna start very soon, Vicky. |
Girl B | Very soon. You don't want to make a fool of yourself in front of all these people. You'd better go right now and practice. |
Vicky | Aw right! Kiddo, see you later. |
Vicky walks off. | |
Sakura is fascinated with stuffed rabbit toys that is piled up on a desk outside.
Sakura | So cute! |
Li | Don't you have one of that at home, Sakura? |
Sakura | I like this one, too! |
Boy | I'll give you one if you get a bascket again our best five players. |
In front of them, five tall basketball player are standing.
Sakura | Uh, ohhh... |
Boy | Oh, year. It could cost your a quarter. |
Julian | Here. [Flashes a quater] |
Boy | Huh? Are you sure? |
Julian | Uh-huh. |
Boy | Uhh, fine. It's your quarter. |
The boy reluctantly snatches the quarter, and blows a whistle. One of the players throws a bascketball to Julian, and he catches and spins it on the tip of his finger.
Julian | Not bad. |
Sakura | Yeah. |
On the whistle, Julian starts dribbling the ball with a smooth move. He nimbly weaves through four players that try to defend, jumps and throws the ball over the gigantic final defender's head.
Julian | Ha! |
The ball rolls on the frame on the goal.
Sakura&Li | Oh, no. |
Finally, the ball fall through the bascket successfully.
Sakura&Li |
Yeah! [Look to each other] Humph! |
Boy | I'm impressed. You've got some great move, Star. You should be playing ball for us. [Gives a stuffed toy] |
Julian |
Oh, thanks. Here. [Gives Sakura the toy] |
Sakura | That was amazing, Julian. |
Julian flashes two more quarters with a smile.
Boy | You want to go again? |
Julian | Yep, I'm not finished yet. |
And... finally, Sakura, Madison, and Li get a stuffed toy each.
Boy | Julian! |
Julian | Huh? |
Boy | Come join our team! |
Julian | I'll think about it. |
Behind him are the five bascketball players totally worn out.
Julian | Well, just about time. |
Madison | About time for what? |
Julian | Our class performance we're having at the auditorium today. |
Sakura | Is Tori going to be in that, too? |
Julian | Yep. |
Sakura | I wonder what part he's playing. |
Julian | Heh heh heh, I'm not telling. You have to see for yourself. |
Sakura | What? |
Julian | Heh heh. |
Sakura | Uh, whatever it is, I'm sure he'll be good at it. |
Julian | Oh, don't worry. It'll be a performance you'll never forget. |
Meawhile, at the backstage, acters are making themselves up for their play, but at the same time, a strange mist arises and swirls in the playground.
In the auditorium, a girl plays the piano on the stage. When she finished her play the audiences applaud loudly. Amoung the audience, Sakura, Madison, and Li are seated.
Madison | Ohh. |
P.A. | Next is the performance put on by the Grade 11 devison D class entitled Cinderella. |
Sakura | What? |
Madison | Division D. Isn't that the division your brother is in, Sakura? |
Li | Yeah, maybe he's playing the role of one of the rats. |
Lights are out, a beep goes off, and the curtain is raised.
Middle of the stage, a boy dressed in a shabby dress is in a crouch sobbing.
Narration | Long long time ago, there was a very beautiful woman named Cinderella. |
Boy | Sob sob sob... |
Sakura | That voice... |
Narration | Every day she was tormented by her wicked stepmother and her ugly stepsisters. But she was a good girl, and she continued to work hard. |
The boy playing Cinderalla turns back to the audience, who turns out to be Tori.
Madison | Julian's right. You'll never forget this performance. |
Sakura | Heh heh heh... [Nervously] |
Boy B | Cinderella! You do all the cleaning! [Shoves Tori] |
Boy C | [Pushes Tori back] It's dirty over there. You're such a disgrace. |
Boy B (acting one of the stepsisters) puches Tori again toward Boy A who is acting the stepmother.
Boy A | My soup was too salty today! [Shoves Tori backward] |
Boy B | Are you trying to kill us? |
Boy B kicks Tori on the back, then Tori falls on the stage.
Tori | Aw! |
Sakura embarrassedly sees the performance.
Boy A | There's a ball in the castle tonight. |
Boy B | Yes, that's right! |
Boy C | Yes, I can't wait to go. |
Boy A | The prince is going to choose a wife. |
Boy B | From among the ladies who attend the ball... |
Boy C | I am going to engaged to the prince. |
Boy B | No, I will! |
Boy C | I will! |
Madison sweatdrops seeing the play.
Madison | That sure is weird. |
Boys B&C | La la la la la lahh. [Dancing with each other] |
Boy A | Come on! We have to get ready for the ball! |
Tori | [Says in monotone] Oh, how I wish I could go, too. |
Boy B | Three of us are going to the ball. |
Boy C | You must stay home, Cinderella. |
Boy B | Have a late night snack ready for us when we get back. |
Boy C | Come on, sis. Let's go. |
Boys A, B, and C (stepmother and stepsisters) walks away.
Tori | [Says in monotone] Sob sob sob, oh, boy. How I wish I could go to the ball. |
Sakura | Hmm... [Embarrassed] |
Li | I don't think he wants to go. |
Meanwhile the mysterious mist wraps the entire auditorium inside, and the mist seeps into the auditorims through the small opening of windwos, when the iron bars on the windows corrode.
On the other hand, back in the stage play...
Announcement | The prince has arrived! |
The prince turned to be Vicky, and when she's spotlighted there's cheers of admiration.
Vicky |
As I'm sure you're already aware I am going to choose my bride
at this ball. I am going to choose a princess from among... Humm! |
The prince (Vicky) gasps at the sight of Cinderella (Tori) who is walking unsteadily toward him (her).
Tori staggers but stands before Vicky, and she forget her line with excitement.
Tori | Vicky, your line. |
Vicky | Oh, what a beautiful, kind hearted young lady. Let's have a dance, shall we? |
Tori and Vicky are dancing, when the mist seeps deep into the backstage. Sakura and Li in the audience sense the presence of the strange being.
Sakura | Uh... |
Madison | Do you sense something? |
Sakura | I'm not sure. |
In the climax of the play, Tori and Vicky are on the balcony, under behind which boys are fanning smoke out from dry ice.
Vicky | Cinderella, I don't want you to leave me. |
Tori | But I must go back home. |
Vicky | Please become my princess. |
Tori | But my fairy godmother told me to be home by midnight. |
Sakura | I sense... |
Li | Something strange. |
The mysterious mist percolates onto the stage, corroding the balcony Vicky and Tori are on.
Sakura&Li | Huff! |
Vicky | Cinderella, I... |
Tori | Prince... |
At this time, the balcony breaks down and Vicky is almost shaken off, when Tori catched her by the hand. Vicky is hanging off just by one hand. The audiences gasp at the scene.
Sakura | Hold on! |
Julian | Tori! |
Under the suspended balcony, the mist corrodes the cable, and consequently the curtain rolls down to shut. All around the auditorium is throuwn into a commotion.
Audience A | Oh, no... |
Audience B | Oh, seems causing some trouble. Some kind of... |
Sakura | It got to be a Clow Card. |
Li | We've got to go where everyone won't see us. |
Sakura | Hmm! |
Sakura finds there's the control room above the stage, and she head for it. Li follows her.
Madison | Sakura? |
Sakura | I have a card to capture. |
Meanwhile, Kero was crying with impression on the drama he watches on TV.
Kero | Ooh... Unh... What a romantic movie. |
Kero's cell phone ring.
Kero | This is better be Sakura calling about a Clow Card. [Answers the phone] |
Sakura | [Rushing up stairs] Kero, we got a big problem, and a Clow Card, I'm in Tori's play, it does appear. |
Kero |
What's that? Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. That's the Mist Card. It covers everything in fog and destroys it. |
Sakura | What? |
Kero | Better hurry or the stage and your brother's almost fallen apart! |
Sakura | No! |
Kero | You and Li may somehow round up the mist before you capture it. |
Sakura | Round up? |
The balcony breaks further.
Girl | Vicky. |
Julian tried to rush up the stairs, but the stair way collapses before his steps.
Julian | Watch out! |
Vicky | You can't hold on much longer. Maybe you should let me try to jump down. Tori. |
Tori never let her fall; he's wincing holding Vicky's wrist tightly.
Vicky | I'll be OK. |
Tori | Mmm... Mmm... |
Sakura |
Round it up... Round it up... I know! Shadow Card, round up mist inside yourself. Shadow! |
Burstig out of the control room, the Shadow spread all over on the stage and wraps the mist inside it.
Sakura | Mist Card, return to your power confined! Mist! |
The sealed card floats up to the control room, where Sakura picks it up.
Sakura | Whoa... |
At the very moment, the balcony begins to totally break apart.
Vicky | Aaah! |
Tori and Vicky are shaken off the balcony, and fall. Li summons his wind magic to catch them gently from the shock. Two of them stand on the stange without being hurt.
Sakura | Huhhh... |
Vicky | Thanks. |
Julian | Tori! |
Girl | Vicky. Are you OK? |
Julian | Are you guys hurt? |
Tori | No, we're fine. |
Tori looks up at the control room, where Sakura and Li has already taken off.
In the twilight, a bonfire is set in the middle of the playground.
P.A. | Attention, everyone. A bonfire dance will begin soon. |
Madison | I can't believe my film ran out before the play started, not to mention. A Clow Card showing up, I missed the great capture. |
Sakura | Heh heh heh heh. |
Madison | I'm sure glad things turn out OK for everyone today. |
Sakura |
Me, too. Thanks, Li. |
Li | Huh? |
Sakura | For helping me out. |
Li | What do you mean helping you? [Looks the other way.] |
Sakura |
Mmm... Hey, Julian! |
Julian | Boy, what a day. |
Sakura | How's Tori? |
Julian | He's fine. He just went to check up to Vicky to see how she was. |
Sakura | Oh. |
Meanwhile, Tori and Vicky are alone on the rooftop.
Vicky | Thanks for saving me today. |
Tori | ...... |
Vicky | [Turn to Tori] I owe you a big time. Tori... |
Tori | Uhh... don't... worry about it. |
Vicky | It's too bad about the play. |
Tori | Mm-hmm. |
Vicky |
Uh, oh, well. There's always next years. Say, how about a dance around the bonfire. |
Students are dancing around a bonfire in a couple in a promenade position. Among them, Tori and Vicky are in.
Sakura | Oh, Tori. |
Vicky | Not bad. |
When the partners change, Tori walk away from the dance circle.
Vicky | Hey, where are you going? |
Tori | Oh, I'm just going to say hi to my sister for a minute. |
Vicky | That's cool. I'll wait for you. |
Tori walks to Sakura and the others.
Sakura | So why didn't you tell me you were going to be in that play today? |
Tori | You told her? |
Julian |
Mm-hmm. Shall we dance? Come on! |
Sakura | OK! |
Julian takes Sakura by the hand, and the two run into the circle of the bonfire dance.
Madison | What a great shot. [Videotapes Sakura] |
Sakura enjoys the very moment of the dance with Julian. |
