That day is Sakura's school's sports day. Kids starts a 100 meter dash, when other kids are cheering the sprinters; among them Sakura runs and crosses the goal ahead of the others.
Rita | You blew them away. [Hands a number 1 flag] |
Sakura | Thanks, Rita. |
Sakura hears clapping of hands, and looks back to see that there's Julian, with Tori holding lunch boxes.
Sakura | Julian! |
Julian | You're a really good sprinter, Sakura. |
Tori | We usually see this when there's time for dinner. |
Getting mad, Sakura steps on Tori's foot hard.
Tori | Ugh! Awwww! |
Sakura | Huh? Is that lunch? It's huge! |
Julian | I was wondering if we packed enough. |
Tori | Dad said that he's gonna come by as soon as he finishes his lecture in the university. |
Sakura | He'll be in time for all the fun events. |
Sakura | Being an archeology professor means he has to give lectures, go on digs and write tons of research papers. But he's always there when we need him. |
Julian | Did you see they're holding a 400 meter dash for parents this afternoon? It'd be great if your dad can make it, wouldn't it? |
Sakura | Yeah! |
Madison | [On P.A.] With the cheerleading squad, please report to the front entrance. Repeat, cheerleading squad, report to the front entrance. |
Sakura | That's Madison's voice! |
Julian | Guess you'd better report in. |
Sakura | Right! |
Beside the P.A. section where Madison makes an announcement, two boys walk by talking about Sakura.
Boy A | Is that fourth grader Sakura, is really fast. |
Boy B | I think she's still unbeaten. |
Sakura who has changed into cheerleading costume is running to the front entrance, when she comes across Madison.
Madison | Hey, Sakura. Is your dad coming this afternoon? |
Sakura | Of course. |
Madison | My mom's stuck in the meeting. She said she'll try to be here as soon as it's done. |
Sakura | Madison's mom is the president of a cool toy company. Like my dad, she is very busy, too. But she always make sure to make time with Madison. |
Boy B | She's a cheerleader, too? |
Boy A | Let's check it out. |
They have the cheerleader's demonstration, where Sakura is twirling her baton in the center of the line. Sakura toss her baton spinning, flips on another cheerleader to support her. On landing on the ground, Sakura catches her spining baton that falls back to her. Julian is clicking the shutter to take pictures of her performance.
Julian | Sakura's getting really good at that, Tori. |
Tori | Hmm, should've seen what she started. To make the team you have to be able to throw the baton and mere catch it. But she keeps droping the thing on the head. |
Sakura | Aw! |
Tori | See? |
Julian | Oh, boy. |
Madison | [On P.A.] This morning's final event will be the forth grader's obstacle race. All the participants, please head to the starting line. |
Sakura is standing at the starting line, when she hears her friends cheering to her.
Madison | Over here, Sakura! |
Girls | Good luck, Sakura! Yay! |
Looking aside, Li is still looking front.
Sakura | Huh? |
Li | Humph! |
Sakura | Wha-uh... |
Terada | Runners, on your marks. [Hold up pistol] |
Julian | [Among audience] Go for it, Sakura! |
Sakura | Huh? |
Li | I'm not letting you beat me. |
Sakura | That's what you said. |
Terada | Get set. |
The pistol bangs; the runners starts dashing. Sakura and Li, going ahead of the others, crawl through the ladder, roll a gigantic balls along the track. Some kids, losing control, crash into the audience with their balls.
Meanwhile, Li and Sakura has run though the ballance bar, and crawl under the net to make their way forward. Some kids get stuck in the net, and they can't crawl as nimbly as the two kids did. Sakura and Li, getting through with the net, jump on their feet to run again.
Li | Hunh. |
Sakura | Here. |
Madison | [Videotaping] All right, it's the last rack of the race. Sakura and Li are neck and neck. |
Julian | Come on, Sakura! [Waving hand] |
Li gets feet tripped and falls.
Sakura | I did it! |
Sakura comes walk to Madison.
Sakura | Madison, isn't your mom here, yet? |
Madison | No, but I'm sure she's on the way. |
Sakura | Well, why don't you come and have lunch with us? |
Madison | I'd love to, but are you sure you guys brought enough food? |
Sakura | Don't worry. Julian help Tori pack the picnic. |
Madison | Heh, in that case, I'm in. |
At this time, Li comes across behind.
Sakura |
Huh? Hey, Li. Uh, do you wanna have lunch with us, too? |
Li | Huh? Yeah, sure... whatever. |
Julian | Hi, Sakura! Hurry up, guys. I'm starving. |
Laying a sheet on the ground, Sakura and the others sit atop on it to have lunch.
Sakura | Here! Wanna try some vegie burgs? |
Madison |
I can't believe your brother and Julian would make all this. Look so good. |
A flower petal falls onto the dish.
Madison | What's this? Uh... heh. |
Li and Sakura are amazed at Julian who is devouring lunch.
Li | Uh... |
Sakura | Whoa... |
Julian | Eh? Sorry, I'm practically eating everything. |
Sakura | Don't be silly. You ate as much as you want. |
Julian | I just never seem to fill myself up. Would you pass me potato chips, please? |
Aiden runs to Sakura panting.
Aiden | Hi, sorry I'm late. |
Sakura | Hey, Dad! |
Aiden | Darn. I missed the cheerleadings' demonstration, didn't I, honey? |
Madison | Don't worry. I got it on video. |
Julian | And I made sure I took a lot of pictures, too. |
Aiden |
Thanks a lot, guys. I'm sorry, Sakura. |
Sakura | It's OK. I'm just glad you're here now. |
Aiden | I made these jellies this morning. Thought you guys might want some sweets after lunch. Who wants one? |
All | I do! |
Sakura and the others enjoy the jelly Aiden just brought.
Sakura | Dad, do you have any more of these at home? |
Aiden | Well, there's another bunch in the fridge. |
Sakura | Kero's gonna be crazy when he tries these. |
Aiden | [Stands up] I'll go throw out the trash. |
Tori | I'll give you a hand. |
Julian | Me, too. |
Aiden, Tori, and Julian walk out to take the trash out.
Sakura | Li took off before he even got to try the pudding. |
Madison | Yeah. |
Samantha | Madison. |
There stands Samantha Taylor, Madison's mother, with four body guards standing behind.
Madison | Mom! |
Sakura | Wow, she's beautiful. |
Madison | Sakura, allow me to introduce you. This is my mom... |
Samantha | Owph... |
Samantha is staring at Sakura speechlessly.
Sakura | Huhh... |
Samantha | Oh, I'm sorry. It's so nice to finally meet you. Madisona talks about you all the time, Sakura. |
Sakura | It's nice to meet you, Mrs. Taylor. |
Samantha |
What a pretty girl you are.
You look just like the girl I used to know. I just realize that you're Madison's best friend, and I don't even know your last name. Will you tell me, please? |
Sakura | Sure... It's... |
Aiden | Sakura. |
Sakura | Oh, Dad! |
Aiden | Oh, Samantha...? |
Aiden and Samantha walks to the corner of the yard to have a private chat.
Aiden | Your last name has changed, so I didn't realize you were Madison's mom. You were Smontha King back then. |
Samantha |
Sakura... I should have realized on hearing her name.
Natasha always said that if she had a baby girl some day in her future
she'd name her Sakura. Listen up, Avalon. Just because we used to always hang around together since kids, it doesn't mean I will not let you win today. You got that? |
Aiden | I wonldn't have any other way. May the best win. |
Samantha | Hmm. |
Sakura, Tori, and Julian are gazing at them from a distance.
Sakura | So Dad and Madison's mom were best friends of each other when they were kid? |
Tori | Hmm. |
Madison | [On P.A.] All parents participating the 400 meter dash, please report to the main entrance. |
Aiden runs back to his kids.
Aiden | Sorry to hold you up. |
Sakura | You're still gonna run on your race for the parents, right, Dad? |
Tori | Do you want me to do it? |
Aiden | No, that's OK. Samantha and I have it all scored to settle on the track. |
Tori | Huh? |
Aiden | Which way to the starting line? |
Sakura | This way. |
Aiden walks to the front entrance with Sakura taking him there.
Julian | So what's the deal with your dad and Mrs. Taylor? And they used to friends or what? |
Tori | They weren't exactly friends. More like rivals. |
Julian | Really? And they haven't seen one another for a very long time? |
Tori | No. My mom had two best friends growing up--My dad and Samantha. They used to do everything together. And Dad and Samantha were always competing never really gotten along. I think there's been a reason they stay friends from my mom's say. Everything changed in high school, my mom and dad fell in love with each other. My dad said Samantha just sort of stopped hanging around with them. The final strolls in their senior year, the two of them both made the finals, and my dad beat out Samantha through only spot for the national championship. |
Julian | You know, I never know that your family and Madison's have so much history together. It's such a shame that they didn't all stay friends. |
Tori | Uh, yeah, well. |
At this time, petals are falling around them.
Tori | Look at all the flowers. |
Sakura and Madison are talkiing at the P.A. section.
Madison | Your dad and my mom used to know each other. |
Sakura | Oops. |
Terada | Runners, do your marks. |
Sakura | Look, Madison. |
Madison | Uh-oh. Mom? |
Among the participants of parents' 400 meter dash, Samantha is standing at the starting line.
Sakura | Did your mom ever mentioned going on the race? |
Madison | No. |
Sakura | What do you think made her change her mind? |
On the starting line...
Samantha | Hey, Avalon, eat my gust. |
Aiden | Haha... |
Terada | Get set. [Holds up pictol] |
As the pistol bangs, the runners starts; Samantha leads the others. But in some seconds, Aiden passes her in an amazing speed.
Samantha | Huph! |
Sakura | Wow! |
Madison | You must get your speed from him. |
Julian | Look him go. |
Tori | Did I mention that he won the natinal chanpionship that year? |
Meanwhile, uncountable flower petals are falling over the ground.
Rita | Where are all flower petals coming from. |
Chelsea | I've never seen so many at once. |
Sakura | I'm sensing a Clow Card. |
Madison | Hmm? |
Kid | Oh, no! |
Li is looking at that mysterious thing from inside the building.
Li | It's a Clow Card. |
As Li is about to take off, Zachary catches him by the hand.
Zachery | Wait. |
Li | Hmm? |
Zachery | Li, what's the matter? |
Li | Look outside. Something awful's happening. |
Zachery | Hmm? That means that we might actually get to treat somebody today. Usually emergency office is so boring. |
Li tries to run out of the room, but Zachary jumps at him to keep him in there.
Zachery |
Not so fast! You can't leave. You have to stick around with me in the office. In case someone gets hurt and needs our help out here. |
Li | Zachary, let me go! |
In the playground, falling flowers are being piled up in an amazing rate. However, Samantha is still running to catch up with Aiden still on the race.
Sakura | She's still right. |
Madison | My mom really hates to lose. |
As the flowers pile up thicker, Samantha shoves them away to make her way.
Samantha | Ugh! |
Rita and Chelsea are taking care of the goal tape, but the flower petals have piled up to their shoulders.
Rita | I can't move. |
Chelsea | We're getting buried. |
Sakura makes up her mind to take care of the happning with her magic.
Sakura | Hmm! |
Madison | Are you gonna use your magic here? |
Sakura |
No one's looking. O Key of Clow, power of magic, power of light, surrender the wand. The force ignite! Release! Fly! |
Sakura flies up on the staff with Madion behind her.
Sakura | I wonder which Clow Card's behind this. |
Madison | I wonder when you can use this to call up a Clow Card expert. [Takes out cell phone] |
Sakura | Remind me to thank you later. |
Meanwhile, Kero is playing a video game in Sakura's room.
Kero | All right, bastard! One of Kero specials is coming right up! Hyaah, yahh! |
However, Kero special doesn't work and he loses the battle.
Kero | Oh, no! You're not supposed to do that. |
At this moment, his cell phone rings.
Kero | [Sobbing] What is it? I'm in the middle of a breakdown. |
Sakura | Kero, we got a big problem. |
Kero | You're right. It's the work of a Clow Card, Sakura. |
Sakura | What do we do? There's flower petals covering the school yard. |
Kero answers the phone playing a video game.
Kero | All right, first you gotta find where all the flowers are coming from. Can you see? |
Sakura and Madison are looking for the source of flower petals around.
Sakura | Oh, over there! |
Madison | Huh? |
On the roof of the school, there's a ping glow of light. Meanwhile, the race is still going on.
Samantha | Give it up, Avalon. There's no way you're goung to win! |
Aiden is running through the petals with a smile.
Rita&Chelsea | Help, somebody! Help! |
Chelsea | I can't move. |
Julian and Tori takes on the tape for the kids.
Chelsea | Huh? |
Julian | You gotta get to a higher place fast. Don't worry, we'll take care of this. |
Sakura and Madison land on the roof.
Madison | Hey, look! Sakura. |
The flower spirit is dancing on the roof, spreading flowers. The spirit is dancing so elegantly that Sakura is fascinated and distracted from doing anything.
Madison | Sakura. |
Sakura |
Oh. The Clow Card. |
The Flower moves to Sakura and takes her hands.
Kero | So guys, how's going out there? |
Madison | Things are getting really weird, Kero. Someone suddenly asked Sakura to dance with her. |
Kero | Is that one with her hair curled into two cones? |
Madison | Yeah. |
Kero | Ah, there's no problem. She just wants to have fun. |
Sakura is dancing with the Flower Card.
Sakura | Uhh, what's going on? |
Madison | Sakura, if you don't stop the Flower soon the whole place will be buried. |
Sakura |
OK! I command you to return to your power confined. Clow Card! |
The flower spirit turns back into the Flower Card.
Sakura | The Flower Card? |
Kero | That's right. The Flower Card is a gentle and fun loving spirit. She likes to appear in party, celebration, and stuff. |
Sakura | Why? |
Kero | She probably wanted to scatter flowers around right at the place. |
Sakura | So what kind of things can this Card do? |
Kero | She can create any kind of flower in the world. |
Sakura | Hey, that's it? |
Kero | Yeah, it's pretty scary to call me, wasn't it? |
Sakura | Because we were buried in petals! |
Madison | Aaah! |
Sakura | What's wrong? |
Madison | I forgot to videotape your capture again. |
At this time, Aiden crosses the goal.
Julian | Congratulations! |
Aiden | Oh, Julian, Tori, thanks. |
Samantha is glaring at Aiden with a tired but angry face.
Afterwards, all the students and the audiences are cleaning the mess made by the Flower Card. Tori is sweeping, and Julian is collecting the petals into a bag.
Julian | It's a shame we can't eat flowers. |
Tori | I cannot believe we got stuck helping clean all this up. |
Meanwhile, Aiden and Samantha are in the backyard.
Aiden | Well, that was an interesting race. |
Samantha | I suppose now you're going to rub my face in it. First you won the nationals, then you marry my best friend, and now you're going to be a hero in front of our kids. |
Aiden | Natasha really missed you. You meant so much to her. |
Samantha | Hunh... |
Aiden | And I never could have made it in the nationals without you, you pushed me to be my best. |
Samantha | Don't try to make me feel better losing the race, Avalon. It won't work. I hate to lose. |
Sakura and Madison are hearing them behind the shrubbery.
Sakura | What are they fighting about now? |
Madison | Sakura... [Whispering in ear] |
Sakura | Yeah, but... |
Madison | Nobody's around. |
Sakura | Flower Card, please give them some flowers. |
Samantha | I'm the president of my own toy company, you know. |
A flower of pink floats down into either of Aiden and Samantha's hand.
Samantha |
Natasha's favorite flower. Natasha, she was just like a sister to me. She had the most enchanting smile you'd ever seen. You can never be in a bad mood around her. She was a beautiful soul. |
Aiden | You and I both are lucky to have her in our lives. |
Samantha | I loved her more than any other friends. |
Aiden | And I know she loved you, too, Samantha. [Hand Samantha handkerchief] |
Samantha |
But... When she married you I didn't think there'd be any room for me in my life any more. I know I was wrong. But she's gone, I won't never be able to tell her that she meant to me. |
Aiden | She knew. |
Sakura and Madison are walking back in the playground.
Madison | My mom told me all that how close she and your mom was close. I think it's so cool that they were friend so long ago, and 20 years later you and I are best friends. |
Sakura | I know. It's like we're destined to be best friends. So we'll be friends forever. |
Madison | Definitely. |
Sakura | Who knows? Maybe some day my dad and your mom will be able to put their past behind them and be friends, too. |
Madison | Never know. You and I can alway be trying to welcome on the bet. |
Sakura | Oh, yeah. |
Tori | [Calls from distance] Sakura, the closing ceremony's starting. |
Sakura |
OK! Are you coming, Madison. |
Madison | You betcha. Heh. |
