Nikki is telling her friends about what she saw when she was walking home the day before.
Nikki | I was already late for dinner. So I thought I could take a shortcut through the woods. |
A sudden sound just startles Nikki, but once she knows it was just a crow she breathes sigh of relief. At the next minute, she saw a glowing ball floating toward her.
Nikki | Huh? |
The ball flies deep in the woods, she follows it.
Nikki | I thought it was a firefly. But I was wrong... |
The glowing ball, when it comes to the cliff, flashes a blinding light---from out of nowhere a monster with one big eye appears before her eyes.
Nikki | Uh... Aaaah! |
Chelsea | Come on, Nikki. Did that really happen? |
Nikki | Uh-huh. |
Chelsea | Sure? Wasn't that just a squirrel or something? |
Nikki | Trust me. |
Chelsea | Hey, Sakura, do you want to go back in the woods tonight to check it out for ourselves? |
Sakura | We can't! I mean, well, don't we have a big science project to do at school tomorrow? |
Chelsea | It's not due until next Tuesday. |
Sakura | Oh, really? Shouldn't we get started? |
Chelsea | We won't be there that long, silly. |
Sakura | Oww, OK. |
Chelsea | Wow, I hope we'll see it, too. |
They hear whistle blow.
Nikki | Break's over. See you later, guys. |
Later on that day, Sakura's gang, with Madison and Rita joining too, are walking in the woods behind school.
Sakura | Hey guys, are you sure we should do this? |
Madison | It'll be fine, Sakura. It's still light out. |
Rita | Relax. Nothing will happen. |
Sakura | Hmm... |
Chelsea | Hey, my mom's birthday's coming up really soon. What should I get her? |
Sakura | Ohh... |
Rita | Well, she loves baking thing, doesn't she? So why don't you get a pretty cake plate? So she'll like that. |
Chelsea |
That sounds good. Hey, there, Sakura. What do you think? Oops... |
Sakura | Huh? Oh, that's OK. Don't worry. That's right. The Sunday would have been my mom's own birthday. |
The kids come walk deep in the woods.
Nikki | This way. |
Sakura is timidly walking as if she was shielded by Madison. The moment she hears a noise, she gets scared.
Madison | It's just a crow. |
Sakura | Oh. |
Sakura's gang arrive at the cliff where Nikki saw the monster.
Nikki | This is the spot. |
Chelsea | Hmm, maybe it doesn't come out till after dark. |
Sakura | Ohh... |
When she turns back, Sakura see a glowing ball in the woods. The ball flashes a bright light, and suddenly a woman in a shadow appears in the vision. All the kids hurriedly run out of the spot.
Girls | Aaaah! |
Sakura | I saw her! I saw the ghost! |
Chelsea | Slimy scale and that lizard face! |
Nikki | One big eye swirling around! |
Rita | It had a long shorn face like a... |
Madison | Big hamburger. |
Girls | Huh? |
Madison | Well, I don't know. But if you ask me, it looked like a giant hamburger. |
Sakura | Aw... |
At that night, Sakura is taking a bath with Kero.
Sakura | Kero, it was so scary. |
Kero | Uh, don't tell me you're afraid of ghosts. |
Sakura | Uh-huhh? |
Kero | But you fight Clow Cards all the time. |
Sakura | Yeah. But I can sense when a Clow Card's around. Ghosts just appear from nowhere and scare you. |
Kero | I think you see one too many scary movies, Sakura. You said everyone saw something different right? Hmm, but a Clow Card would do that? |
Sakura | Hmm, I wish you could return to your true form and be my bodyguard. |
Kero | You'll need both. That's why you have to catch the Element Cards, Sakura. My true form is pretty impressive, huh. |
Sakura | Is that really, huh? |
Sakura tries to imagine Kero's true form.
Kero | [Looks the same but bigger than a building] Roar, huh. |
Sakura trots in the kitchen, when the dinner is ready.
Sakura | Wow, that looks amazing. |
Aiden | Linguine with clams, your favorite. |
Sakura | Mm-hmm. |
On getting seated, Sakura takes a picture of her mother up off the table.
Sakura | I love this picture. She was only 16 here right? |
Aiden | That's right. |
Sakura |
My mom, Natasha, began modeling in junior school.
We still have all the pictures she was takes for magazines,
and the ones Dad took of her. Mom sure was pretty. |
Aiden | Yeah, she was the most beatiful, and kind woman in the world. |
Sakura |
Yeah. I don't really remember much about my mon, but Dad tells me about her all the time, and I love her very much. |
Aiden | Come on. |
Sakura | Huh? |
Aiden | Eat up before it gets cold, Sakura. |
Sakura | OK. You'd better hurry, too, Dad, or you'll miss your train. |
Aiden | Yes, ma'am. |
Sakura is washing dishes later.
Kero | Well, Sakura, uhn, did your dad and brother go out? |
Sakura | Tori's at work, I don't know exactly sure what that is. Dad went out for a conference. |
Kero | Oh. |
Sakura | You know, Kero. Dad made some pudding for us. Let's eat mine, and Tori's. |
Kero | Yeah! Pudding, pudding! |
Phone rings! | |
Kero | Yeah, I'll go get that. |
Kero gets the cordless receiver and brings it for Sakura, so she can talk on the phone.
Sakura |
Hi, Sakura speaking. Hey, Madison. What's up? Back to the forest? |
Madison | Yeah, I just talked to Chelsea. She convinced some other friends into going with her. And they saw again... the ghost. |
Sakura, Madison, and Kero come in the forest for investigation. Sakura is dressed in a pink rabbit outfit made by Madison.
Kero | What's the big deal, Sakura? Fulfill as Cardcaptor, remember? |
Sakura | I guess. [Sobbing] |
Madison | Are you OK? |
Sakura |
Yeah, I suppose I am. Are Chelsea's friends OK? |
Madison | Yeah, but Chelsea said, when they saw the ghost they panicked like we did, and ran to the forest, some of them fell on ground to hurt. But they're OK, now. |
Sakura | I gotta catch that Clow Card. |
Kero | That sounds a lot more like the Cardcaptor I know. |
Madison | Well, let's get going. |
Sakura and Madison find the glowing ball ahead, which flies into the woods.
Sakura | There it is! |
Kero | Sakura! |
Sakura |
Right. Fly! |
Sakura calls out the Fly Card, and follows the light. The ball halts at the cliff and emits a bright light, then a woman appears from inside the light, who looks exactly like Sakura's mother Natasha.
Sakura | Is that you, Mom? Mother, it's you. |
The woman in the halo is looking at Sakura smiling.
Sakura | My mother. |
Madison and Kero come running to the scene.
Madison | Huh? |
Kero | What's happening, Sakura? |
When Kero tries to catch up with Sakura, he gets flipped by the force field.
Kero | Aww! Aaah! |
Madison | Kero. |
Sakura keeps looking at Natasha.
Sakura | I miss you. |
Natasha extends her arm for Sakura, and then she starts stepping to her.
Madison | Sakura! Watch out for the cliff! |
The moment Sakura steps off the cliff, Natasha disappers from her vision. Sakura loses her concioussness and falls.
Madison | Sakura! |
Out of nowhere, a hand grabs Sakura to rescue, so she falls slowly. The hand on the rescue wears a ring on its ring finger.
Madison | Sakura! You OK? |
Meanwhile, Julian is walking below the cliff, when he happens to see Sakura falling, so he dashes ahead.
Julian | Uh, Sakura! [Catches Sakura safe] |
Madison | Sakura! |
Julian | She's OK, Madison. I've got her. |
Madison | Phew. |
Sakura finds herself in Julian's house, when he brings her hot milk.
Julian | You're awake? |
Sakura | Where am I? |
Julian | You're at my house. Would you like something to drink? My grandma's washing your clothes for you. |
Julian gives a cup of hot milk for Sakura, and she sips.
Sakura |
That's right. Tori told me that Julian lived with
his grandparents. But how did I get here? |
Julian | You fell down the cliff. You don't remember? |
Sakura | Huh-huh... [Shakes head] |
Julian | That's OK. But it sure gave me a scare. It's a good thing that I got hungry and I went out for a late-night snack. |
Sakura | You mean you saved me? Huph! Where is Madison? |
Julian | Well, some women in sunglasses came for her. She was very worried about you, she made me to promise to call Tori so you wouldn't wonder where you are, where you're get home to walk. She thought it might get me manage you, or something like that. |
Sakura | What about Kero? |
Julian | You mean that orange stuffed animal? Uh, Madison said she'd look after for it for you. |
Sakura | Hmm. |
Sakura drink all the milk.
Julian | Better? |
Sakura | Better. |
Julian | That's good. |
Later on that night, Tori is carring Sakura back home on his back. Julian walks with him carring Sakura's costume out of the landry.
Tori | Sorry about this. |
Julian | Hmm. Sakura said, she saw your mom in the woods. |
Tori | Hmm. |
Julian | Have you seen your mom, since she passed on? |
Tori | Yeah, but certainly that's not behind the school. It's my fault she's so afraid of ghosts. I used to see them all the time, but I couldn't explain, So when she asked me who I was talking to, I told Sakura that there were see-through people. |
Julian | That's why she's so scared. |
Tori | She didn't see anything, but I think she understood. |
Julian | So do you still see your mom? |
Tori |
No, I've seen her also back in junior high school. You know, Sakura's probably lonely without her mom. |
Julian | Well, I'm not sure about that. But I'm sure she loves to see your mom again. Sakura's got a lot things to deal with. When she wakes up go easy on her, OK? |
Tori | Hmm. |
Julian | You know, she's such a sweet kid, Tori. Why are you always teasing her like that? You're such a big boy sometimes. |
Tori | I'm her big brother, it's my job. |
Julian | Just wait till she grows up. |
Tori | Zip it, Julian. |
Next day, Sakura is sitting up in bed and reading a book, when there's a knock on the door.
Sakura | Come in. |
Madison | Hey, Sakura. |
Sakura | Madison. |
Madison | Are you OK? You didn't come to school. |
Sakura | Yep. I'm perfectly fine. Tori let me stay home today. |
Kero floats out of Madison's basket, giving Sakura a flower.
Sakura | Ah, Kero. |
Kero | I'm sorry that I couldn't help you, Sakura. |
Sakura |
Thanks, Kero. [Smells the flower] It's pretty. |
Madison | So what do you think the line of forest was, Sakura? |
Sakura | My mom was there. In the forest, I saw her. |
Madison | But everyone saw something completely different. You were the only one who said she saw a woman. |
Kero | Maybe we should just forget about this. |
Sakura | huh? |
Kero | I don't know if it's a Clow Card or a real ghost, but whatever it is, it has the power to fling me back and knock me out. I'm the one who asked you to capture the Cards, and there's no way I'm gonna risk but you'll get hurt, Sakura. |
Sakura |
Oh, Kero. Kero, I mean, you are the best! [Screws her fist on Kero's head] |
Kero | Hey! Watch that fur! Hey! Hey! |
Sakura | Well, I'm going back to the forest. |
Kero&Madison | Sakura. |
Sakura | If it is a Card, then I have to capture it. And if it's my mother... |
Sakura gets out of bed and stands by the window.
Sakura | Tori told me long time ago that my mom went to a beautiful place far far away. I need to know for sure that my mother is OK. What if she's trying to tell me something? |
On that night, Sakura, Madison, and Kero are back in the forest.
Madison | Be careful, Sakura. |
Kero | Don't go follow any more to the cliff, all right? |
Sakura | OK. |
Kero | I want you to stay close. |
Madison | I wonder if it'll show up again tonight. |
Kero | I'll be ready for it this time. |
Madison pans her camcoder, when she finds the light in the finder.
Madison | There it is! |
Kero | Sakura! |
Sakura | Mm-hmm! |
The glowing ball flashes bright, and Natasha comes out.
Sakura | My mother. |
Madison | It's Sakura's mother. |
Kero | Just like in the picture. But why are seeing the same thing this time? |
Sakura |
I'm coming. [Walking to the cliff] Are you really my mom? What are you doing here? |
Natasha extends her arm for Sakura.
Sakura |
Mother, are you lonely? Do you want me to go with you? Mom, wait. Please don't go. |
Kero | Sakura, don't go any far... |
Kero is fliped by the force field.
Kero | Aaahh! Ahh! |
Madison | Kero! |
Kero | Stop her, quick... |
Sakura | Mom! |
Natasha floats up, slowly getting away from the cliff.
Sakura |
Wait, mom! Don't leave me! Mom! Please come back! |
Sakura jumps off to take Natasha by the hand, but she falls down.
Kero | Sakura! |
Sakura |
Why, Mom? Why? I don't understand. |
While falling, Sakura has a flasheback of Julian's word from last night.
Julian | If it was your mom, do you really think that she puts you in danger, Sakura? |
Sakura |
No. My mother wouldn't do that! |
Sakura throws down a Card, and calls it out when she is falling.
Sakura | Fly! |
In the nick of time she takes on the Fly, and soars up onto the cliff.
Kero | All right! |
Madison | Sakura. |
Sakura | You are not my mother! Who are you?! |
The figure of Natasha gets blurred, and a mysterious pattern can be seen behind.
Kero | Wait a second, I recognize that! It is a Clow Card! |
Sakura | Return to your power confined! Clow Card! |
The spirit is suck to the tip of the staff, and turns back into its card form.
Madison | You did it. |
Kero | Ah, the Illusion Card, of course. That's why no one saw the same thing. |
Madison | What are you talking about? |
Kero | The Illusion Card makes each person see things that they either want to see or expect to see. That's why they everyone saw something different. |
Madison | No wonder. I can figure out why I saw a hamburger. In order that I think of it, I was starving. |
Kero | And those who saw the ghost saw what they thought most afraid of. We all had Sakura's mom in the picture on our mind. It must have been picked up on that. |
Madison | But why were you thrown away? |
Kero | Sakura felt so strongly about seeing her mom and she added to its power. |
Sakura | I've missed you so much, mom. And I wish I could see you for real. But you don't have to worry. Mom, I'm just happy knowing you're up there watching me. Knowing you're there. |
Kero | Sakura, you did a great job. You mom will be proud of you. I'm pretty proud of you, too. |
On the Sunday morning, Natasha's birthday, Sakura runs downstairs.
Sakura | I'm going to be late. |
Sakura runs into the kitchin, takes milk and bread from the refridgerator.
Tori | What's the furry? Sunday. |
Sakura | I've got practice. |
Sakura swallowed the bread, and dring milk.
Sakura | I'm off! Uh. |
Sakura puts a little present in front of Natasha's picture.
Sakura | Mom, happy birthday. I love you. |
Tori sees Natasha standing and smiling beside Sakura.
Tori | Huh? |
Sakura | Hey, Tori. See you later. |
Natasha | She had me worry this time, but I have to admit that she'll be fine. |
A ring glitters on her ring finger. Natasha smiles and goes up back to the heven.
Tori | Hmm. |
When Sakura rollerblades to school just like usual. |
